SACRAMENTO, Calif — Highs last weekend were hot by May standards, with temps in the low to middle 90s, about 10 to 15 degrees above average. This weekend, we're back to seasonal temps.
The average temperature for this time of year is 82 degrees.
Isolated thunderstorm activity with some lightning near Yosemite early Saturday evening.
The Delta Breeze looks to get going early this afternoon and continue through the evening, helping to keep things feeling warm but not hot. A gale and hazardous seas warning issued for small crafts in the San Francisco Bay area that winds are creating waves double the size.
Gusts will pick up again Sunday afternoon and last through the evening. Breezy conditions to linger into the work week.
A seasonal weekend continues on Sunday with highs once again in the low to mid-80s with a strong evening Delta Breeze.
Going into the workweek, we'll see a brief but noticeable warmup with highs close to 90° once again around Tuesday. These warmer afternoons won't stick around as high pressure actually scoots well to our west. This means high pressure – the bellwether for hot and dry afternoons – won't be the primary weather pattern influence as we work towards and through Memorial Day weekend. In fact, a troughing pattern over the west coast looks likely. What does that mean? Seasonally cool to mild temperatures.
We're looking at mid-80s to end the workweek, but then dropping into the upper 70s for the long holiday weekend! Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer, is expected to be on the cool and pleasant side.
